Barb Springer, Artistic Director
Barb Springer is a proud alumna of the Lebanon High School music program. She studied music education at Butler University and graduated with highest honors in that field. She has taught at Tri-West Jr.-Sr. High School, Lebanon High School, and for twenty years at Lebanon Middle School. Barb has directed the Boone County Community Band for many years and is thrilled to be in her third season with the Boone County Youth|Adult Orchestra.
Elizabeth A. Knox, BCYO founder and former Artistic Director 2009 - 2017
Liz Knox moved to Louisiana in 2017 with her husband, Kevin and their two adventurous teenagers, Christian and Julia where she completed her doctorate in music composition at Louisiana State University. She currently holds a bachelor of music performance with a concentration in music theory and composition from the University of Indianapolis, and a double masters degree in instrumental conducting and composition from Butler University.
Liz was previously a tremendous part of the arts community of Lebanon, serving as a musician at Grace Church of Lebanon, a performing member and assistant conductor of the Boone County Community Band, and Artistic Director of the Boone County Youth Orchestra.

Barb Walters, Co-Founder & Former Executive Director
Barb Walters has been teaching violin and other instruments since she was a teenager in college. Following her graduation from the University of Michigan School of Music, she played in professional and community orchestras in Massachusetts, Kentucky, and Indiana while maintaining her studio. She moved to Lebanon in 2001. Barb enjoys teaching violin, viola, cello, and piano to all ages. In 2017, Barb won her first-ever medal in anything remotely athletic - 2nd place in archery at the Scottish Games. She also enjoys tossing and flipping the 65-lb caber.
